I recently got a new scanner and I'm curious on how high of a resolution on scans are you interested in seeing? I normally scan at 300 & 600 dpi are people interested in higher?[Poll #1643214]
I like trying to make graphics too (or trying at least) so high quality is good :-) Though I guess too high a resolution is a pain because it will be a pretty big file! Ohh, and thank you again for all your time and effort put into scanning/uploading pics for us all, you're very much appreciated! And for considering our preferences too, it's very kind of you :-D
I'm seeing what the response is but my initial thoughts are if there is enough interest I will switch from 300/600 to 600/1200 although it will probably increase my scanning time by quite a bit.
For anything higher than 1200 I would open a request page although I don't know if I will friends lock it. There people could request higher resolutions of a what scans they want. With 4800 dpi shops running at over 25 MB a piece it would be unrealistic and way to time consuming to scan the amount of shops I get at the resolution especially considering people wouldn't need them all. I couldn't even scan larger magazines in at the resolution since my computer can handle that kind of large image file.
The only thing that does concern me is the fact that many shops are older shops and any imperfections are really caught at the higher res. Even some of the newer ones are like that. Things I can't even see on the shop itself turn up so I'm not sure if people would even want the scans at the higher res. since I'm not going to spend time editing them for people.
No problem :) I just noticed that most people don't download the 300 dpi so I was wondering if they were interested in a HQ scan. I tend to work with 600 or 1200 if I can find them. I couldn't even work with a 4800 dpi scan on my computer since the file is so huge.
Yeah, for graphics i tend to use 600 or 1200 if i can get them :-) though a little bigger is fine, but I agree 4800 is a little impractical for everyday use - its a very good idea about the request page though :-) I'm sure people will really appreciate your extra effort :-D
